”Intuitive,authentic, fun, focused, motivating”
Clients appreciate my direct style and know that I will speak the truth as I observe it. They experience me as invested in their development and as an enthusiastic supporter of their dreams. My coaching style blends humor with honest, straightforward communication.
A Certified Coach
I am a certified coach who does both executive and life coaching. As an independent consultant with Korn Ferry International, I coach women and members of traditionally underrepresented groups who are managers and senior managers within the financial services industry. I founded my own company, LifeRecrafted, to specifically address the needs of individuals navigating divorce and other challenging life and career transitions.
My life coaching emphasizes understanding the nature of transition, creating a life vision that aligns with my clients’ values and recreating meaning in the wake of significant life events. I also design and lead workshops focused on divorce recovery, personal power, boundaries, and work/life integration.
In December, I published a book with Dr. Judy Kennedy about divorce transition entitled Turn North At Divorce: 10 Steps To An Incredible New Life.
Create the Life You Want
I believe everyone has the ability to create the life they want and that we are each driven by our quest to create meaning, to do something that will matter. In cultivating our strengths to serve something larger than ourselves, we fulfill our sense of purpose. Though often born of an unwanted ending to a life chapter, transition offers people a chance to craft their life stories anew. This has been my personal experience, and I want to help others seize this opportunity.
From Helplessness to Empowerment
My work involves helping my clients reframe how they perceive their circumstances. There is nothing more expanding than the realm of possibility, but many of us confine ourselves within a rigid framework that we construct either in response to external expectations, societal messages, or fear. In this constrictive space, options are temporarily blocked from view. Change the frame and new opportunities present themselves. There is nothing more rewarding than observing how a client”s perspective shifts from one of helplessness to one of empowerment, how energy shifts from surviving to creating.
Having navigated my own divorce transition, along with several major career transitions and physical moves across the country over the past twenty years, I am keenly aware of both the formidable challenge and the incredible opportunity that transition presents. I understand what it feels like to be temporarily lost, in pain, and wondering – “now what?” When I start working with clients, they are often in varying states of grief or confusion. My first-hand knowledge of where they are allows me to connect with them in an authentic way
Formal Education and Past Experience
I received my coaching training at the globally recognized Coach U and am certified through the International Coach Federation. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in psychology from Middlebury College.
My past life includes being a certified public accountant, serving in various leadership positions within three companies where I managed, developed, and trained people in both private industry and public accounting for twenty years. After successfully implementing a coaching program focused on leadership development and serving as a coach and mentor in my last company, I decided to make coaching my full time career.
Transitioning with Tuxedo
With my “tuxedo” cat, Baxter, I moved, three years ago, from Seattle, Washington, to West Hartford, Connecticut where I enjoy exploring New England via bike and car. I also love listening to jazz, gardening, cooking and traveling anywhere.
I have volunteered for the past three years as a career development coach with Dress for Success Hartford, an organization that promotes economic independence for disadvantaged women.
I belong to the International Coach Federation, the ICF-CT, the CT Coaches Collaborative and also serve as Hartford alumni chapter leader for Middlebury College.
